4. Safety testing system introduction

  • Hipot or dielectric strength test refers to apply high voltage between the electric part and casing of the tested product and check whether the electric part is grounded or broken-down.
  • Insulation resistance is to check the total resistance of the tested product conductive part and exposed non-conductive part. It the simplest and most common method to evaluate the insulation of electric appliance.
  • Leakage current refers to the current generated by the insulation material or some components impedance that has nothing to do with the product normal working current. For Ⅰ class device, leakage current refers to the current that across the insulated material and enter into the protecting grounding lead.
  • Grounding resistance refers to the connection resistance between the metal parts and the earthing terminal or the earthing contact of the measured equipment, rather than the protection earthing resistance in the distribution system. The grounding resistance is a quantitative index to evaluate the grounding continuity of the equipment under test.
