4. Introduction
4.1 Four common tests are in safety test: insulation resistance, Hipot, leakage current, grounding resistance.
4.2 Apply different voltage to the tested product for insulation resistance, Hipot, leakage current to check the insulation resistance. The grounding resistance is to test the reliability of the grounding.
4.3 Grounding resistance refers to the connection resistance between the metal parts and the earthing terminal or the earthing contact of the measured equipment, rather than the protection earthing resistance in the distribution system. The grounding resistance is a quantitative index to evaluate the grounding continuity of the equipment under test.
4.4 How to measure the grounding resistance
Take a specified current that does not exceed 12V (the current is equal to 1.5 times rated current or 25A) from an unloaded power supply, and measure the voltage drop between the grounding terminal of the device under test and each accessible metal part. The resistance calculated based on the current and the voltage drop is the grounding conduction resistance. The resistance value shall not exceed 0.1 Ω.
4.5 Notes for the grounding resistance test
The grounding resistance should be measured with four-wire to eliminate the contact thermoelectric potential and reduce the measurement error. The measuring instrument shall have the function of automatically eliminating the testing line resistance and the contact resistance to ensure the accuracy of the measurement.
