4. About electrical safety testing:
4.1 Leakage current, a non-operating current produced by a power source pass through insulating materials and distributed capacity, for class I appliances, it is the current that passing through insulating materials and flowing into protective earth wire. The current is produced by the power source and applied to the tested object.
4.2 The size of leakage current depends on several reasons, such as structure and materials of tested object, working environment, the resistance of the operator. If the size exceeds a limited value, it will hurt the operator. For this reason, all safety standards of appliances have stipulated the limit of leakage current, which limited to perceived range of human body.
4.3 The resistance of human changes under different conditions of dry or wet as well as different level and frequency of voltage.
4.4 Dielectric strength has been called AC Hipot,under which several times of rated voltage is applied to the tested object between changed components and shell, and to test if there is a breakdown current or if the charged component has been grounded.
4.5 Because most of the electric products adopt AC power source, AC Hipot has become a common test to simulate the actual use of products.
